Our Talent
We at Hudson & Fouquet are proud of the talented group of people we've assembled to help shape your image. Please read through the following bios to get to know them...
- MATT HUDSON
-
Co-owner of Hudson & Fouquet Matt Hudson specializes in pretty hair. “I love coloring hair just a little more than I love cutting it,” he says. Perhaps the reason for this preference is his knack for using hair color to make clients look 10 years younger.
A graduate of the prestigious Graham Webb International Academy of Hair and practicing stylist for over 17 years, Matt continues his education by taking yearly classes from Kerastase and Bumble & Bumble educators, and top teachers from all over the country. He loves learning the best ways to help his clients look good and earning the little smile that proves it.
Graciously, Matt acknowledges his salon’s “best” awards—What's Up’s Best of Annapolis, a Top 200 Salons by Salon Today, and Worth the Drive by Baltimore magazine and credits the great team. However, he also knows great customer service keeps clients coming back again and again. And, he remains committed to this simple philosophy.
Matt simply loves helping people look their best from the time they step out of his salon until the next time they arrive. In addition to a great cut, he offers advice that can be easily followed at home. One of his top tips: turn down the heat on your dryer when drying your roots; you won’t burn yourself and you’ll get more lift.
When he’s not at H&F, the Eastport resident loves spending time with his family and playing in a local band.

- LUC FOUQUET
-
Paris-trained stylist Luc Fouquet trained in four different salons in his native France for eight years before moving on to Saint Tropez and then the chic Cristophe Salon in Beverly Hills. He came east to continue with the Cristophe in Washington, D.C., before opening up Hudson & Fouquet with co-owner Matt Hudson in 2004.
Simply put, Luc loves to cut hair, to create a new look, a new style, that makes his clients feel good. Many of his ideas stem from his travels and allows him to bring more sophistication to Annapolis.
Recently named top Cutting-Edge Stylist by Baltimore Magazine, like many of the stylists who work for him, Luc is adamant about the use of the right product. Always pre-dry your hair with the dryer before starting with the brush, he regularly advises clients.
When he is not traveling, Luc loves to play tennis, cycle, ski, dine, and spend time with friends.

- NICOLE CIANNI
-
Nicole Cianni has been cutting and coloring hair since graduating from Allentown School of Cosmetology in 2003. The innovative stylist loves hair of all lengths and types, but her specialty is long hair.
“From the color to the cut to the style, I love to work with clients as they grow their hair out so they can achieve long, healthy, beautiful hair,” says the Pennsylvania native, who honed her talents through experience with three salons, including the renowned American Hairlines. She also privately trained with Aveda, Wella, Goldwell, and L’Oreal, and loves the ongoing education regularly offered at H&F.
Fast and accurate, Nicole’s expert knowledge of mixing chemicals combines beautifully with her ability to specialize techniques to create styles for all ages and gender. She loves makeovers and seeing the finished work! Committed to great customer service, Nicole knows “hair is important. I want you to have faith in me and relax so I can make your hair look good and you feel great.” Her motto: Less is more. Start with a little product and add only as needed.
When she’s not beautifying clients, Nicole enjoys spending time with family and friends.

- LIZA DEITZ
-
Liza Deitz wants to “make your day.”
The hair professional says helping people look and feel better about themselves is what inspired her to become a stylist in the first place.
Previously at Morgan Gerard, Liza’s key strength is color, especially corrective work. She specializes in long hair haircuts and extension work and continues her education to enhance that expertise and more through classes and seminars with companies like Redken, Alfaparf, Bumble and Bumble, and Paul Mitchell.
Liza loves the instant gratification of a hair makeover and is as excited as her client to completely create a new look within a few hours through a new color, a cut that compliments skin tone and face shape, or extensions.
Among her great tips: If you have bangs, style them first; don’t wait for them to air dry. They will look better and last longer if you hit them first, when wet, with the blow dryer and brush before styling the rest of your hair.
A graduate of Towson University and The Fila Academy- Paul Mitchell Partner School, Liza has been in the business for 13 years.
When she’s not at H&F, Liza loves being with her horses, Sweet Pea and Ella. She has been riding since the age of 7 and says she would be lost without them!

- JESSICA ERA
-
Jessica Era knows a great haircut makes people happy and she works hard at it.
A graduate of Salisbury-Delmarva Beauty Academy, Jessica has learned over the past seven years that just cutting what is needed can make a big difference. A fan of haircutting, up-dos, highlighting and color, the Kent Island resident has fine-tuned her touch so that is soft and gentle.
Her great tip: To really get volume, blow dry! You can’t get lift through just air drying.
Jessica is thrilled that she has joined H&F and loves working with the staff members who are helpful and very knowledgeable about the extensive products offered at the salon.
When she’s not inside at H&F, Jessica loves exercising outside.

With a passion for helping people look and feel their best, Noah’s favorite service is hair cutting because it offers instant gratification to his clients.
Noah says he is thrilled to have made the switch to Hudson & Fouquet. He loves the quick found camaraderie. Everyone from the front desk to the shampoo techs work together, which makes for a great environment for the clients, as well as the staff.
When he’s not offering great tips for the best ways to get hair to shine or to create a more natural look, Noah loves socializing with his friends, the four-legged, as well as the two-legged kind.

- VIRGINIA FINGLAND
-
Virginia Fingland is often inspired by the joy her clients feel when they love their hair. She is particularly passionate about color, whether it’s a natural highlight or an intense red. Her favorite: Ombre & Balayage Color techniques.
Virginia has multiple specialties including updos and special occasion styling, great brush set blowouts on long hair, and ethnic hair and relaxers. Her secret for a great blowout with volume at home might sounds like grandma’s advice, but it works like a charm. “Dry your hair and put Velcro rollers in all over. Do your makeup or get dressed; then, take them out and you’ll have a fabulous, frizz-free, voluptuous style in 10 minutes.”
Virginia has continued her education through Color & Cutting Trends Class, Keratin Complex Straightening Treatment, and fashion shows in the D.C. area. She is keratin certified. When she’s not at H&F, Virginia loves nothing better than spending time with her daughters.

- BRITTANY FOSTER
-
Because she loves helping people look and feel their best, being a stylist is the ideal job for Brittany Foster.
A graduate of The Aveda Institute Orlando, Brittany’s inspiration often comes directly from her clients. She listens well to help men and women identify and bring out their personal styles. Since colors and textures are key, she regularly peruses magazines, researching types of styles as backgrounds for what her clients want her to help create. She has even come up with a secret to give hair texture, like curl or wave: braid or twist damp hair and let it dry overnight. In the morning, you can play with it to get the right texture.
Brittany’s favorite service is color. “I love color. Whether it’s a big change or something more subtle — Balayage, dimensional, freeform, corrective—finding great color helps you feel and look amazing.” To ensure that the right cut and style for her clients, Brittany has vast knowledge of numerous techniques, including cutting and styling long and curly hair and performing Keratin treatments.
With Brittany, clients are excited when they see the end result. “And I love when they come back and tell me they had fun styling their hair themselves,” says the Crownsville resident. To keep up her continuing advanced education, Brittany works with Aveda, L’Oreal Professional, and Aquage for updo styling. She is currently training with Schwarzkopf Professional in Advanced Color and in the process of becoming a technical advisor for the Schwarzkopf Color Team.
When she’s not in front of her chair at H&F, you’ll find Brittany outside. She loves the outdoors. “If the weather is nice then that is where I will be.”

A perfectionist at heart, Fern loves working at the window on West Street. People pass by all day saying hello and looking in at our team work. I like being a part of the West Village Scene, says Fern, who has been in Annapolis since 2000.
Featured in “Engaged! The Wedding Look Book” and in Bumble & Bumble’s International Beauty Show, Fern credits her long-term to for her innate love of beauty, color and form.
Fern calls on a wide variety of motifs and areas for inspiration: Strong and sexy, soft and sensual, self-esteem that shows with body language, sophisticated people, working up in NYC museums, fashion shows and magazines. Then, she uses that input to help clients create their personal bests.
Renowned for her ability to dress up hair, the former salon owner advises clients to first nourish your body from within…your hair will reflect that. Secondly, find one or two products that work for you and learn how to use them, she says.

Fern loves to travel, mainly by motorcycle, to quench her thirst for new adventures. I celebrate diversity in our world, says Fern. Every culture offers amazing gifts.

- ANN MARIE SOPCHICK
-
Ann Marie Sopchick’s passion for and appreciation of oil and acrylic painting lends itself perfectly to her keen sense of color, texture and shade. She truly enjoys the artistry involved in the creation of natural looking color and highlights for her clients.
Although she has been styling hair for over 25 years and has worked in some of the most respected salons in the country, Ann Marie is determined to continue enhancing her already extensive experience. In addition to the exceptional in-salon training currently underway at H&F, she attends seminars and training sessions with elite artists outside of the salon. Trained by some of the industry’s top educators, the Crofton resident is licensed in several states. She holds a Manager/Senior Cosmetology license in Maryland.
Ann Marie loves helping clients learn the best way to care for their hair. For instance, she says that many people are unaware of the damage that chlorine and hard water found in this area can do to their hair. Specific shampoos and conditioners are available to remedy this problem; she suggests talking to your stylist and asking for recommendations, such as using a weekly clarifying shampoo and conditioner, especially if you use well water.
Throughout the years, Ann Marie’s greatest inspiration remains the enthusiasm and loyalty of many client-friends. Because of the close relationship with these clients, she is personally invested in making each feel and look his or her best. She is most touched by those how have suffered the trauma of hair loss and related problems due to health issues. “To know that, in some small way, I have eased the burden on my client friends, and to have made them feel a little better about themselves and their appearance is truly gratifying,” she says.
Delighted to be alongside a diverse staff of talented colleagues, when she’s not at H&F, Ann Marie loves spending time with her family including her Shih Tzu Bianca.
